There’s no denying that Marian Rivera has had a stellar career. But there’s more to her superstardom than just being an actress

Since she burst into the spotlight in the mid-2000s (she was even a finalist for 2005’s meg face search!) she’s never been out of it, appearing in several movies and TV shows. Her staying power can be partly attributed to her talent and versatility—she can do romance, comedy, drama and action and everything in between. Heck, she once even took on the character of Darna, a role that came with a lot of pressure considering many actresses still covet it up to today. At 27, Marian is definitely a star in her own right.

Another reason why the public has stayed enamored with her despite the controversies she has faced is her real and reel romance with actor Dingdong Dantes. Since the showbiz couple have been together for the longest (and have endured vicious gossip about their relationship), fans and the public have been wondering if there are plans for the two to get married. While no date has been set and no engagement made, Marian’s pretty sure that day will come. But for now, she chooses to focus on her upcoming TV show which partly showcases her penchant for cooking, and her other love, traveling.

According to “The Teen Research Unlimited (TRU) Study: 2012 Philippine Edition,” which was presented to the media on Wednesday, the 42-year-old Robin Padilla is the favorite TV/movie star among Filipino teens, ages 12-19 years old.

Padilla is also tops among young Filipino adults, ages 20-24.

Abegail Barcelona, associate research director for the TRU study, noted that during the survey period of June-July 2011, Padilla was starring in the hit ABS-CBN primetime action series “Guns and Roses” with Bea Alonzo.

Award-winning actor Coco Martin, 30, debuted at No. 2 among both teens and young adults in the survey.

Barcelona attributed Martin’s high ranking to his hit ABS-CBN primetime drama series “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin.”

Kapamilya stars dominated the Top 5 favorite stars among Filipino teens and young adults.

Among teens, actress Kim Chiu and Angel Locsin tied for fourth place, while singer-actress Sarah Geronimo was at No. 5. Chiu didn’t place on the survey of young adults.

Actress Marian Rivera was the only non-ABS-CBN star on the list. Rivera was at No. 3 for both teens and young adults.

GMA-7's Primetime Queen Marian Rivera placed 9th in the Top 10 International Beauties of 2012 based on a survey conducted by TopTenz.Net.



The blog entry described Marian as a "major star in the Philippines."



Though it wasn't explained thoroughly on the website how they chose the Top 10, Marian is the only Southeast Asian in the list.



Others who made it in the list are top international models and celebrities.



The number one spot was taken by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, an English model and actress who appeared in the movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

MANILA, Philippines - There was a commotion on the way to The Philippine Star office. Apparently, a bus just flew out of the bridge and a crane was lifting the vehicle out of its sorry state. Feeling mobile journo, I quickly tweeted the photo from my car’s window. Seconds after, fellow citizen journalists updated me — it was a scene from the latest Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes starrer, My Beloved.


Everybody knows the reel to real-life romance between Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, from the sparks that flew during their first tandem in Marimar which made it into a record-breaking smash-hit teleserye to their latest project together where they play mystical creatures that turn the city upside down — something that happened to this writer that fateful afternoon on the way to the Port Area.



The couple, collectively called “Dongyan” by their diehard fans, is a bit of an enigma. They have magic together and can stand on their own when given projects apart. Some may have tried to tear the two apart, but their mettle as a couple has stood the test of time, their star power has been proven and is undoubted in an industry where “rise and fall” is the norm. “In this day of overexposure, stars rarely have “screaming” fans, (but) they do. They have the most, in fact,” entertainment stalwart Wilma Galvante told me over dinner in LA while US promoters were discussing who among Filipino stars were most effective with Pinoy communities here and abroad.

"Personal, gusto ko na talagang pumasok sa culinary school kasi mas gusto kong palawakin yung pagluluto ko.





"Kasi, marami akong alam, pero wala akong ibang alam na twists na puwedeng gawin sa mga pagkain," sabi niya.





Paghahanda ba iyon sa kung kasal na sila ni Dingdong?





"Ayan na naman, kasal na naman!" bulalas niya.





"Hindi naman, para sa sarili ko yun.



"Kasi kapag meron kang gustong gawin at na-achieve mo yun, i-achieve mo yun para sa sarili mo, hindi para sa partner mo."





Ano ang pinakamasarap na niyang niluto?





"Lahat!" tawa ni Marian.





"Well, ang sabi nila, marami ang nagsabi, masarap daw yung caldereta ko at saka yung carrot cake ko."





Dahil iyon ang mga paborito ni Dingdong?





"E, siyempre dun na ako maniniwala, iyon ang ipinagluto ko, e!" at muling tumawa ang aktres.





Magtatayo ba siya ng restaurant balang-araw?





"Hindi naman ngayon. Pero sana, malay mo, pagka...





"After twenty years, bilang magaling na magaling na akong magluto, bakit hindi, di ba?"





"VERY, VERY HAPPY." Paano ide-describe ni Marian ang buhay niya ngayon?

"'Tapos, nanghingi ako ng mga donations sa mga kilala kong doktor para ipadala sa Cagayan de Oro, yung mga ganun.





"Kahit simpleng bagay lang," saad ni Marian.





May mga pinuntahan rin siyang mga batang may cancer.





"Oo. Tapos yung sa Follow The Star, yung may bone cancer.





"Parang kahit konti lang na maitulong ko para mas maging makabuluhan yung year ko ngayon, e, gagawin ko."





Hindi niya ba balak magtayo ng sarili niyang foundation?





"Hindi na siguro, kasi si Dong, e, may foundation na [Yes Pinoy Foundation].





"Siguro tutulong na lang ako.





"Hindi naman porke wala kang foundation, hindi ka puwedeng tumulong.





"Kasi tulad niyan, kinuha ako ng Red Cross, so malaki akong magiging parte nila sa Red Cross.





"Ako naman, kay Dong din, hati din naman.



"Kapag kailangan naman niya ako, nandun din ako sa Yes Pinoy Foundation niya.





"So, puwede naman."





Paano kung finally ay maisipan ngang tumakbo ni Dingdong sa pulitika?





"Bahala siya. Kung saan siya mas magiging kumpleto bilang tao, e, di sige, sa likod lang niya ako," sagot ni Marian.

Nagpalit ng hairstyle ang aktres bilang preparasyon sa bago niyang teleserye sa GMA-7, ang My Beloved.



Umalis sila ni Dingdong Dantes patungong Singapore para sa ilang araw na bakasyon kasama ang kanilang manager na sina Perry Lansigan at Popoy Caritativo.



Naunang dumating si Dingdong sa airport dahil siya ang nag-check-in sa kanilang lahat.



"We're taking a short trip to Singapore kasama ng mga managers namin.



"Para naman ito kay Marian, kasi 10 months siya nag-taping ng Amaya.



"I think she deserves a short vacation kahit papaano, para recharged yung body, mind and soul para sa pagsabak ng My Beloved," pahayag ni Dingdong sa entertainment press kasama na ang PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).



"Kahit tatlong araw lang at least magkakasama kaming lahat tapos relax lang."



Ang sabi naman ni Marian, "Tsaka ako din after Amaya bigyan man lang ako ng tatlong araw yung sarili ko na makapag-aliw-aliw."



Tuwang-tuwa ang aktres at ikinuwento sa media na nagulat daw si Dingdong nang ipinakita nito ang bagong gupit niyang buhok.



Isa lamang ito sa paghahanda niya para sa role na gagampanan sa My Beloved.



Kuwento ni Dingdong, "Nung nakita ko siya kahapon e, akala ko ibang tao. Matagal na kasi niyang pinaplano yun.



"Gusto niyang mangyari iyun. Alam mo naman kahit anong buhok niya e, sobrang ganda talaga ni Marian."



Pahayag naman ni Marian, "Para bagong show, bagong hitsura, tsaka bagong utak," sabay tawa niya.



"Kasi tapos na ang Amaya, hindi naman sa gusto kong burahin [si Amaya]. Gusto ko naman paghandaan si Czarina sa My Beloved.



"Wala naman akong peg sa bagong look na ito. Wala akong ginaya.



"Nagpakita ako sa kanya [Dingdong] kahapon after akong gupitan. Sobrang happy niya, 'Ay para akong may bagong girlfriend,'" sabi raw sa kanya ni Dingdong, sabay bitaw nito ng malutong halakhak.



Naka-schedule magsimula ng taping si Marian sa My Beloved sa Lunes at dito na raw muna siya mag-concentrate bilang pagbabalik-tambalan nila ni Dingdong.



Wala raw muna siyang masasabi sa balitang magsasama sila ni Angel Locsin sa isang pelikula.



"Pinag-uusapan pa lang e. Mahirap ding magdesisyon kasi may manager ako, Regal baby ako.



"Marami dapat i-consider kung sinong mga taong dapat kausapin," pakli nito.



Iniiwasan na rin ni Marian na pag-usapan pa ang mga negatibong isyu kaya nakiusap itong wala na muna siyang sasaguting intriga.



Tumanggi rin itong sagutin ang tungkol sa sinabi ni Heart Evangelista na hindi raw nito sinagot ang ngiti at tango sa kanya nang magkasalubong sila sa GMA-7.



Mabuting manahimik na lang daw siya sa ilang kuwentong hindi naman totoo.
